The Mosaic School is a private school that serves children with autism ranging in age from five through 21 years of age. Students receive an education individualized to their unique behavioral and learning needs, with emphasis upon acquiring those communication, social and academic skills necessary to live and function within the family, school and community settings. Each student's program is developed in close cooperation with the family, school district, and other professionals working with the family.
At the Mosaic School, we are committed to utilizing the "best practices" documented by research to produce positive, lasting outcomes for persons with autism. Accordingly, our instructional techniques are drawn primarily from the science of ABA and the wealth of research demonstrating its effectiveness for this population.
Instruction is provided on a one-to-one basis as necessary. Less intensive structures are utilized according to students' needs and abilities permitting the introduction of peer interaction and small-group instruction. Staff are trained and work under the close supervision of a qualified behavior analyst and a certified special education teacher.
Success for each student depends upon not only a high-quality school program, but also a strong commitment to the child's continued education after school. Research has demonstrated that acquired skills and behaviors will more readily be maintained if they are regularly practiced across environments. Family and/or caregiver involvement is thus a crucial component of each student's education. The Mosaic School offers support to the family in carrying out this critical role, including consultation and coordination of the home and school programs as necessary.
